Feasting Fashion

What better time of year is there to show off your sense of fashion than Thanksgiving? Sure, the turkey's important, but even more important is your attire. You're not going to be mingling with your family members, friends, coworkers, employers, or anyone else while wearing a baggy shirt and a pair of jeans. It's the time of year where you dress in layers!

(This isn't me, but click the picture to see this guy's clothing choices)

Dressing in layers not only looks nicer, but should be more comfortable and convenient for you. If you're doing some work in the kitchen you can roll up your sleeves, if you're sitting around the table and it gets chilly you can throw on a nice sweater, if you're going outside you can put on a scarf. And don't forget to pick out your favorite tie for this occasion, it really puts it all together. Thanksgiving falls on a very opportune time of year because dressing in layers is perfect for this season!

If you're considering wearing something that's tedious to wash then think again. Anything can happen at the Thanksgiving dinner table: little kids knocking over a cup of wine, gravy dripping from your plate, salad falling from your fork! If you're wearing something that's not machine washable then good luck getting all of that out!

In memory of the successful harvest which initiated this holiday, make sure to wear earthly colors
If you really want to go for the more casual, silly, hey-look-at-me kinda look, check out this novelty store which offers everything from turkey purses to drumstick headbands.
Have a fantastic and fashionable Thanksgiving everyone!

What are you guys wearing on Thanksgiving? Anyone have any exciting plans? Think you'll be purchasing any of those novelty items?

To Tie Or Not To Tie

Who doesn't love long pieces of cloth worn for decorative purposes around the neck or shoulders, resting under the shirt collar and knotted at the throat? If you work an office job, you'll be wearing a tie. If you're going to a formal event, you'll be wearing a tie. If something you do requires a uniform, you'll be wearing a tie. If you like ties, you'll be wearing a tie.
They originated back in the 17th century as cravats, which look a little something like

Ever watched The Scarlet Pimpernel? Well he wears a cravat (sink me!)

I never knew much about ties, I always thought that one was like any other except in a different color. Turns out there are more variations than your average necktie. We've got the ascot tie, the bow tie, the bolo tie, the clip-on tie, and there are even different types of neckties like the four-in-hand necktie and the six- and seven-fold neckties. Don't get too overwhelmed though, the most common ties you'll see are the necktie and the clip-on tie:

Fun fact: The “four-in-hand” became the name of a gentlemen’s club in London

Anyway, enough of that little lecture. Out of my collection, my personal favorite is a dark navy blue silk tie that I bought here. It's sleek, comfortable to the touch, and shows the world that I'm ready to take it on.

If you're new to the whole tie thing, check out some brands that I wholeheartedly recommend: Bvlgari, Borrelli, Carlo Franco, Sam Hober, Attolini, Isaia, Marinella, and Hermes.

Do you have a favorite tie? Favorite color for a tie? Funny story involving ties? Anything tie related, feel free to share!

The World of Fashion

Hey everybody! If you read my little about me to the right, my names Dan! I'm your run-of-the-mill, close-to-eighteen year old meterosexual who lives in Jersey, going to school and living life day to day. I started up this blog in hopes of sharing my closet love for men's fashion, and maybe find some others who enjoy it too but might be a little bit embarrassed to say so! Enjoy, there's much more to come!
